Biography
Luke Shaffer practices in the firm’s Business Representation & Transactions Group, providing counsel to clients on matters including early-stage corporate formation and corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and equity and debt financings.
Luke’s work spans the entire corporate life cycle including pre-incorporation planning, corporate restructuring, general corporate matters, venture capital financings, strategic acquisitions, and successful M&A exits. Luke leverages his experience drafting and negotiating complex corporate and transactional documents to provide clients with practical and solutions oriented representation.
Luke advises clients on tariff compliance and tariff refund recovery as part of the firm's cross-functional tariff response team. This includes analyzing the impact of recent U.S. Supreme Court tariff rulings on importers' obligations, identifying overpaid tariff refund opportunities, guiding clients through the tariff refund process, providing insight on refund sharing obligations, and responding to inquiries about downstream customer refund claims.
Prior to joining KMK Law, Luke practiced in Columbus, Ohio where he advised privately-held businesses on restructuring and insolvency related matters. Luke is a graduate of the Columbus Bar Association’s Barrister Leadership Program and served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Ohio State Business Law Journal during law school.
