Keating Muething & Klekamp Hires Five New Associates

The Cincinnati law firm of Keating Muething & Klekamp PLL (KMK Law®) is proud to welcome five new associates: Taylor R. Baumeister, Olivia M. King, Madeline J. O’Toole, Laura Gates Rai, and Janelle M. Thompson.  

Taylor R. Baumeister is a member of the firm’s Private Client Services Group. He works with individuals, families, closely held businesses, and charitable organizations on estate planning, tax, real estate, and nonprofit matters. Baumeister earned his law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 2022. While in law school, he served as a Judicial Extern for the Honorable Jeffery P. Hopkins of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Ohio. Taylor also participated in the University of Cincinnati College of Law’s Entrepreneurship and Community Development Clinic as a student advising entrepreneurs through various stages of business development and was a summer associate with a full-service Cincinnati law firm. Prior to law school, Baumeister worked as a project manager for a national digital marketing and advertising agency. He earned his B.A. from the University of Cincinnati, cum laude, in 2018. Baumeister is licensed to practice law in Ohio.

Olivia M. King practices in the firm’s Business Representation & Transactions Group, where she assists private and publicly held companies with a wide variety of corporate transactions. King earned her law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 2022. During law school, she participated in the University of Cincinnati College of Law’s Entrepreneurship & Community Development Clinic advising entrepreneurs through various stages of business development. King also interned at the David J. Joseph Company in the Company’s legal department. King served as a summer associate at KMK Law in 2020 and 2021 and continued to work with KMK’s Corporate team as a law clerk during law school. King is licensed to practice law in Ohio.

Madeline J. O’Toole is a member of the firm’s Business Representation & Transaction Group. O’Toole earned her law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 2022, cum laude, where she served as Notes and Comments Editor on the University of Cincinnati Law Review. While in law school, O’Toole also served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Judge Candace J. Smith, Magistrate Judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky. O’Toole also served as a summer associate at KMK Law in 2020 and 2021 and continued to work with KMK’s Commercial Finance team as a law clerk during her third year of law school. O’Toole is licensed to practice law in Ohio.

Laura Gates Rai is a member of the firm's Litigation Group, focusing on complex commercial and general corporate litigation matters. Rai earned her law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 2022. While in law school, she worked as a legal extern for Judge Michael R. Barrett at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. Rai also served as an associate editor and business manager for the University of Cincinnati Law Review. Prior to law school, Rai taught high school science with Teach For America, and worked in politics and education policy in New Hampshire. Rai is licensed to practice law in Ohio.

Janelle E. Thompson practices in the firm’s Business Representation & Transactions Group, where she assists private and publicly held companies with a wide variety of corporate transactions. Thompson earned her law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 2022. While in law school, she merged her undergraduate background in environmental science with the legal field through an externship with Greater Cincinnati Water Works, where she focused her efforts on the Lead Awareness Program. Thompson completed an independent research project with a professor that led to a publication in the Boston University Law Review, and was also a member of the University of Cincinnati Law Review. Thompson also served as a summer associate at KMK Law in 2020 and 2021. Thompson is licensed to practice law in Ohio.
