KMK Law Welcomes Five New Associates

The Cincinnati law firm of Keating Muething & Klekamp PLL (KMK Law®) welcomes five new associates: Melanie Cheek, Margaret M. Johnson, Amanda B. Stubblefield, W. Matthew Weigel, and Luke W. White.

Melanie Cheek is a member of the firm’s Labor and Employment Group where she helps clients meet their business objectives and minimize liability. Her practice currently includes a wide range of labor and employment matters. Cheek earned her law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 2018 where she was articles editor of the University of Cincinnati Law Review, senior articles editor for Human Rights Quarterly, secretary for the Black Law Students Association, and vice president of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association. Prior to law school, Cheek served as a law clerk for Duke Energy Corporation and held an internship at the United States District Court of the Southern District of Ohio to the Honorable Susan J. Dlott. Cheek earned her B.A. in Sociology from D’Youville College, cum laude, in 2012 and earned her graduate certificate in Corporate Communications from Seneca College in 2014. Cheek is admitted to practice law in Ohio.

Margaret M. (Meg) Johnson practices in the firm's Business Representation & Transactions Group where she assists companies in a broad range of corporate related matters. Johnson earned her law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 2018, magna cum laude. While in law school, Johnson served as blog editor for the University of Cincinnati Law Review, was a legal intern at UC Law’s Entrepreneurship and Community Development Clinic (ECDC), and a legal extern at EyeMed Vision Care, a division of Luxottica. She also served as a research assistant at the University of Cincinnati College of Law as well as an extern for The Honorable Michael R. Barrett of the U.S. District Court of the Southern District of Ohio. Johnson earned her B.S. in Business Administration with concentrations in Marketing and Leadership from the University of Dayton in 2012. Johnson is admitted to practice law in Ohio.

Amanda B. Stubblefield practices in the firm's Litigation Group, where she assists individuals and companies with a wide range of matters related to litigation and dispute resolution. Prior to joining KMK, Stubblefield served as a law clerk to the Hon. David L. Bunning, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky, where she managed one-third of the Court's civil and criminal dockets, supervised and trained incoming law clerks and interns, and represented Judge Bunning's Chambers on sub-committees and at conferences. Stubblefield also worked as a litigation associate at McBrayer, McGinnis, Leslie & Kirkland PLLC in Lexington, Kentucky, where she gained experience in all aspects of civil litigation, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, oral arguments, trials, and appeals. She has experience practicing in state and federal courts, as well as administrative agencies. Stubblefield earned her law degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 2014, where she graduated magna cum laude, and was elected into the Order of the Coif. She served as notes editor of the Kentucky Journal of Equine, Agriculture, and Natural Resources Law, and was a member of the Women's Law Caucus. Amanda earned a B.A. in History, summa cum laude, from Eastern Kentucky University in 2011. Stubblefield is admitted to practice law in Ohio, Kentucky, and the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Kentucky.

Matthew (Matt) Weigel practices in the firm's Litigation Group, where he assists clients with general litigation matters and dispute resolution. Weigel earned his law degree from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 2018 where he served as managing editor of the Ohio State Journal on Dispute Resolution for two years. He also attended the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and earned a position as a criminal law teaching assistant and was involved in the Student Trial Lawyers' Association. While in law school, Weigel served as a legislative extern for Ohio Senator William P. Coley, II and a judicial extern for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, assisting the Honorable Susan J. Dlott. Weigel was also a summer intern for small firm in Cincinnati where he gained significant experience supporting attorneys at trials, depositions, arbitration sessions and hearings. Weigel earned his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2012. Weigel is admitted to practice law in Ohio.

Luke W. White is a member of the firm’s Real Estate Group. His practice focuses on a wide variety of commercial real estate matters and transactions. Luke earned his law degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 2018, graduating magna cum laude. While at Notre Dame Law School, Luke was a Dean’s Circle Fellow (top 10%) and a member of the Notre Dame Law Review. He also served as a judicial extern for The Honorable Michael R. Barrett of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. White earned his B.A. in Philosophy from Wake Forest University in 2013, graduating summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.
