Scott Hakes is a Benefits Consultant in KMK’s Employee Benefit and Executive Compensation Group.  Prior to joining KMK, Scott had 30 years of benefits experience with large national and international companies.  Scott has significant experience with all aspects of the design and administration of traditional and cash balance pension plans, 401(k) plans, non-qualified retirement plans, executive long-term incentive plans and health and welfare plans.  Scott’s experience includes helping formulate and implement company-wide benefit strategies as well as managing day-to-day and plan administrative and compliance matters, such as negotiating contracts with third party vendors and administrators, conducting RFP’s, addressing ERISA fiduciary compliance and IRS qualification issues, handling complex IRS and DOL audits, developing the agenda for, and conducting, plan fiduciary committee meetings, evaluating 401(k) and pension plan investments and providers, structuring and evaluating pension plan de-risking strategies, and addressing benefit issues relating in mergers and acquisitions. Scott also has significant experience in HRIS and payroll conversions and planning and international benefit experience in Puerto Rico and Canada.
