KMK Law Elects Three New Partners

The Cincinnati law firm of Keating Muething & Klekamp PLL (KMK Law®) is pleased to announce that it has elected three new partners: James C. Kennedy, Margaret G. Kubicki, and James E. Parsons

James C. KennedyJames C. (Jim) Kennedy practices with KMK’s Law Business Representation & Transactions Group. The focus of his practice is corporate, securities, and financing law, where he has extensive experience in mergers, acquisitions and divestitures representing public corporations, their subsidiaries, and other entities. In his more than 34 years as an attorney for American Financial Group, Inc, its subsidiaries, and affiliates ("AFG"), he has overseen many acquisition and divestiture transactions in recent years with an aggregate transaction value in the billions of dollars. After the passage of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, he consolidated and managed the AFG Internal Audit and Investigative Services department. He has significant experience in initial and follow-on public offerings of securities and in representing issuers and investors in private placements of securities. He regularly advises on corporate governance, financing, compliance and litigation matters. Kennedy is listed in The Best Lawyers in America for Securities Regulation, 2018. Kennedy earned his J.D. From the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 1976, and his B.B.A. from the University of Cincinnati in 1973. Kennedy is licensed to practice law in Ohio.

Margaret G. KubickiMargaret G. Kubicki practices in the firm’s Private Client Services Group and Business Group in the areas of estate planning, succession business planning, taxation, and trust and estate administration.  She has experience advising clients regarding closely held businesses including drafting operation agreements and buy-sell agreements. Kubicki utilizes sophisticated estate planning techniques including the use of marital trusts, generation skipping trusts, GRATS, charitable trusts and domestic asset protection trusts. She also practices in the area of corporate law and has experience with structuring and implementing transactions to facilitate mergers and acquisitions. She has significant experience in corporate, income, and estate tax research. Kubicki earned her LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida Graduate Tax Program in 1994 and her J.D. from Salmon P. Chase College of Law, Northern Kentucky University, summa cum laude, in 1993, where she graduated first in her class. She earned her B.S. from the University of Cincinnati in 1990. Kubicki is licensed to practice law in Ohio.

James E. ParsonsJames E. (Jim) Parsons joined KMK Law in July 2016 as a member in the firm’s Real Estate Group where he focuses his practice in the areas of public law, public finance and tax incentives for business development, including tax increment financing for development projects. He has been actively involved in those practice areas for more than 10 years during his prior time as of counsel in the Northern Kentucky office of Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP. Parsons earned his J.D. from Salmon P. Chase College of Law, Northern Kentucky University in 1980 and his B.A. from Northern Kentucky University in 1976. Parsons is licensed to practice Law in Kentucky.
