As promised, the U.S. Office of Management and Budget on Tuesday released a set of proposed cybersecurity guidelines to help government agencies draft contracts with information technology contractors. The quick turnaround on drafting these guidelines reflects a sense of urgency among government officials to both forestall future attacks and ward off criticism over recent digital security problems encountered by various government agencies. Comment will be open on the draft guidelines until September 10, and the OMB hopes to have a final policy in the fall.
