KMK hires experienced legal secretaries.  MS Office XP/2007 skills are preferred.  Excellent typing, grammar, and spelling skills are required.  We provide an extensive training program.  We offer a salary commensurate with experience and an excellent benefits package.

ADMINISTRATION

KMK's administrative staff includes human resources, business development and marketing, accounting, library, records management, receptionists, word processing, and information technology.  The Administrative staff provides leadership, knowledge, and experience throughout the firm in a wide variety of services.

Director of Legal Recruiting & Professional Development - Current Opening

The Director of Legal Recruiting and Professional Development (Director) shall have responsibility for all legal recruiting, professional development programs and diversity/inclusion initiatives for the firm.  The Director will evaluate, design and implement legal recruiting strategies and processes as well as professional development and diversity/inclusion initiatives to achieve the goals and strategies of the firm’s strategic plan and coordinate such efforts with the attorneys and staff.

The Director of Legal Recruiting and Professional Development shall report to the Executive Director.  The Director will be a member of the Hiring, Diversity, and Associates Committees.  As a member of the Hiring and Diversity Committees, the Director will be responsible to facilitate all meetings and initiatives to be undertaken.  The Director shall have the opportunity to express his/her views and judgment concerning all issues involving the recruiting and professional development programs and procedures of the firm, as well as provide input on evaluations of associates.  The Director has general authority over all aspects of recruiting and attorney professional development.

Specific duties and authority may be delegated to other individuals at the discretion of the Director of Legal Recruiting and Professional Development.  However, the Director will be responsible for the quality and timeliness of performance of all functions within the purview of this description.

Legal Recruiting:

  1. Résumé review & recruiting database management
  2. On-Campus Interview management
  3. In-House interview management
  4. Lateral hiring
  5. Liason to Professional Recruiters
  6. Law School/ Bar Association liaison
  7. Manage Summer Associate program
  8. National Association for Law Placement (NALP) Firm representative
  9. Maintain comparative salary information & make recommendations
  10. Update & maintain Firm résumé (for law students and law schools)
  11. Maintain Firm information/ hiring related data
  12. Update and maintain firm website recruiting page language
  13. Prepare and monitor annual budget

 Professional Development:

  1. New Associate integration & orientation
  2. Associate curriculum and curriculum budget
  3. Coordinate & host Firm-sponsored CLE seminars
  4. Participate as standing member of the Associate Committee, contributing to Associate compensation & benefits, professional development initiatives, and retention related programs
  5. Serve as standing member of Diversity Committee and Women’s Initiative
  6. Prepare and monitor annual budget

Desired Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a law firm or professional services firm environment
  • Familiarity with the legal services provided throughout the firm, to enhance recruiting
  • Ability to communicate with and gain the confidence of lawyers and staff
  • Ability to adapt to and work within the firm’s culture
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Highly organized and ability to work independently
  • Able to manage multiple projects while prioritizing work assignments
  • Problem solver
  • “People” person, particularly relative to the ability to judge the “fit” of applicants for available positions
  • Good judgment
  • Responsive and willing to take initiative; high energy

MESSENGER CLERKS

KMK utilizes messenger clerks year-round to assist with daily office clerical duties. The daily responsibilities of a Messenger Clerk includes a variety of miscellaneous clerical work including, but not limited to: court runs, processing and distributing USPS mail, deliveries, receiving and distributing UPS and FedEx packages, stocking office supplies, preparing conference rooms for meetings, and operating as the back-up receptionist.
