Mr. Ramsey is a member of the firm’s litigation group. He focuses his practice on representing both private and public companies in complex commercial litigation involving a wide range of business disputes, including breach of contract claims, insurance coverage issues, fiduciary duty claims, unfair competition claims, business torts, trademark infringement, shareholder derivative suits, fraud, and the dissolution of limited liability companies, partnerships and closely held corporations. He represents firm clients in federal and state courts throughout the country.
Mr. Ramsey serves as coordinator of the firm’s pro bono program.
Representative Matters
- Represented public corporation in lawsuit against insurance company for coverage under an additional insured endorsement to a subcontractor’s insurance policy; succeeded in obtaining judgment against insurer requiring insurance coverage for wrongful death claims asserted against corporation.
- Represented public corporation in declaratory judgment action against insurance company; obtained summary judgment resulting in $10 million in insurance coverage for client.
- Represented public corporation in lawsuit against two labor unions for racketeering, extortion, and trademark infringement.
- Successfully defended regional bank that had been sued for intentional infliction of emotional distress allegedly resulting from bank’s collection practices.
- Successfully defended corporation accused of fraudulently transferring millions of dollars to one of its sister companies.
- Represented local taxpayers who intervened in a lawsuit commenced by an interest group challenging the validity of an option election regarding the sale of alcoholic beverages; persuaded trial court and court of appeals that election results were valid.
- Successfully defended public corporation in a securities fraud lawsuit commenced by a union in an effort to stop the corporation’s annual shareholders meeting.
