Michael T. Cappel

Mr. Cappel’s practice is concentrated in the area of litigation, with a focus on commercial litigation and appellate practice. He also has experience in financial services litigation, construction litigation, personal injury litigation, and wrongful death litigation.

He has represented private companies, public companies, financial institutions, and individuals in a variety of legal matters, including corporate and partnership disputes, real property disputes, zoning disputes, fraud claims, breach of contract claims, and insurance disputes.

Mr. Cappel has experience in all aspects of commercial litigation, including taking and defending depositions, oral argument, motion practice, written discovery, pre-trial, trial, and appellate litigation. He has litigated cases within federal and state courts, state appellate courts, and private and court-sponsored mediation and arbitration.

Prior to joining Keating Muething & Klekamp, Mr. Cappel served as a law clerk to the Honorable Mark P. Painter, Ohio First District Court of Appeals. In that capacity, Mr. Cappel researched and drafted decisions and opinions for the court in both civil and criminal matters, and thus has unique experience for appellate practice. While in law school, Mr. Cappel was a fellow with the Lois & Richard Rosenthal Institute for Justice/Ohio Innocence Project and externed with the Honorable David L. Bunning in the United States District Court, Eastern District of Kentucky. He also served on the editorial board for the University of Cincinnati Law Review.
